It seems the show really does go on for rapper-producer Lupe Fiasco.
On Thursday, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded the Chicago rhymer with 10 new platinum and gold certifications. 2010’s “The Show Goes On” is now officially 7x platinum, making for his best-selling record to date.
Additionally, 2012’s “Battle Scars” featuring Guy Sebastian and 2007’s “Superstar” are now 3x platinum, while 2011’s “Lasers,” 2006’s “Kick Push” and 2006’s “Daydreaming” with Jill Scott are now platinum. And now gold for Lupe is 2011’s “Words I Never Said” with Skylar Grey and “Out Of My Head” with Trey Songz, 2007’s “Hip-Hop Saved My Life” with Nikki Jean and 2013’s “Old School Love” with Ed Sheeran.
Lupe Fiasco Announces ‘Endless LUP’ Radio Station
Lupe Fiasco sat down with A2HH’s Weekend Rhyme a while back and announced his newest endeavor Endless LUP, an AI-powered radio station soon to make its way to FM dials. He shared the news with fans on Instagram and presented the platform as an innovative fusion with artificial intelligence that would once again redefine technology’s role in music.
“Imagine a 24-hour AI-powered radio station trained on the nuances of my rapping abilities, meticulously designed to produce top-tier Lupe Fiasco songs,” he wrote. “Imagine this station airing exclusively in select locations, for limited periods, and accessible only through an actual FM radio.”
Fiasco believes that the use of AI rap music was inevitable and that it should be viewed as “another medium for hip-hop to respond to.” He urges anyone coming up with the industry now to join in the process of integration rather than resist.
“…The benefit that you’ll get out of mastering that space, will set you apart from all your rapper peers who choose not to,” he said during our interview.
