T.I. may have found himself in a real-life situationship with his latest project.
The rapper-turned-filmmaker is being sued for allegedly jacking the title Situationships—and maybe even the whole concept—from a TV producer who says she’s been building that brand since 2016.
Cylia Senii, the creator behind the Situationships series, just hit Tip and his company Grand Hustle Films with a lawsuit, claiming they straight-up lifted her idea for his upcoming movie. Senii says she’s been running Situationships for years, releasing episodes that dive into modern dating culture across platforms like YouTube, BET Digital, Tubi, and Amazon Prime. She says the show was still active through 2024.
Now, she’s accusing T.I. of stepping on her IP—name and all—for a film he wrote, directed, and stars in. Even wilder? Senii says people who used to work on her series have jumped over to help with Tip’s version.
Senii reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter back in December and tried to block his trademark applications. One of those trademark applications was officially denied in May for being too close to Senii’s already-existing brand.
Senii, repping her Atlanta-based company Featherstone Entertainment, isn’t just asking for the title back—she wants an injunction and monetary damages. The lawsuit names claims like unfair competition and civil conspiracy.
She’s calling the whole thing “ironic,” considering–and get this— T.I. and Tiny just walked away with $71 million after winning a huge lawsuit over MGA Entertainment allegedly stealing the look of their girl group OMG Girlz for those L.O.L. Surprise! dolls.
Now the roles have flipped, and it’s Tip on the defensive.
As of now, T.I. hasn’t responded publicly to the lawsuit. But if the courts side with Senii, this Situationship could cost him more than just the title.
