Bad Boy Records Founder, Sean Diddy Combs was facing life in prison when he entered the New York City courtroom where his trial was taking place on Wednesday (July 2).
For those tardy to the party Diddy was facing federal racketeering charges. Prosecutors were looking to convict the music mogul of a RICO. Alleging that he spearheaded a sex trafficking ring for two decades, along with a slew of other charges. However, he was only convicted of two of the charges. As far as Diddy’s bail is concerned, that was out of the jury’s hands. And completely at the discretion of trial Judge Arun Subramanian.
Diddy’s Bail Denied Despite RICO Acquittal
Despite three major acquittals in the trial, Diddy will remain housed at the Brooklyn Detention Center. Where he has been since September 2024. His bail was denied by Judge Submaranian. October 3 is his sentencing date.
“I’ve read the party’s submissions and others. The jury convicted [Diddy] of Counts 3 and 5. For the following reasons, bail is denied,” the Judge said in court on Wednesday. According to a transcript from Inner City Press.
The proposed release conditions for Diddy included:
– $1,000,000 bond
– Travel restricted. To the Southern District of Florida. Central District of California. Eastern District of New York, and New Jersey.
– Surrendering his passport
– Drug Test
Diddy was found not guilty of racketeering, trafficking of Cassie, and the trafficking of Jane Doe. He was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution. Related to Cassie and was found guilty of the same such charges related to Jane Doe.
With the heavy lifting of the trial out of the way, all eyes now look towards Diddy’s October 3 sentencing date. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison on the prostitution charges.
