The ultimate music battle platform returned at ComplexCon in Las Vegas this past weekend. Fans got to see two more legendary music groups go head-to-head as Master P’s No Limit Records will face off against Birdman’s Cash Money.
Tariq Nasheed Gets Honest About Cash Money vs. No Limit
There were mixed reviews on who won the battle. However, the social media personality has made his stance clear. He believes that No Limit won the Verzuz battle against Cash Money by a clear margin. Claiming that No Limit “washed” Cash Money.
“No Limit won that,” Nasheed started. “And many people thought that Cash Money would win. Why? Because Cash Money has more hit records. More modern hit records. But Cash Money, they were kind of at a disadvantage because their biggest hit maker was missing. Wayne wasn’t there.”
However, according to Nasheed, it may not even have mattered if Wayne was hypothetically in attendance. Because when it comes to the Verzuz stage, an artist’s success in the matchup goes way beyond how good their catalog is. It’s about their stage presence as well.
“With Verzuz, it’s not just about playing the record. It is not just about playing the hits. It is about performing the hits,” Nasheed added. “What are you doing on that stage? It’s a whole different thing. This isn’t a listening party; that’s not how Verzuz works.
Others in the comments section of Nasheed’s video had mixed reactions to the Verzuz matchup.
“Cash Money lost due to ego, No Limit won due to love and family,” one fan wrote on YouTube.
“Mama MIA did her thing, especially on “Bout it Bout it” she was the hometown hero mentioning all the Nola projects. She had the crowd hyped,” another user added.
“The culture won as a whole last night. No Limit and Cash Money were instrumental in showing how much ownership means in the music industry. No fussing or fighting between them on stage, there was mutual respect between both camps,” a third user said.
Fans also expressed frustration with how short the event was. Many wished it had taken place in New Orleans, citing that it would have brought a more energetic crowd and authentic vibe.
