Blueface is officially a free man.

The 28-year-old rapper was released from a California State Prison in Los Angeles on Monday (Nov. 3) after serving just under two years of a four-year sentence tied to a probation violation in a 2021 assault case. The rapper confirmed his return home with an Instagram video filmed from his living room, where he declared, “Still that ni**a, two years later. On the dead homies.”

His release follows weeks of hints from family members who had been publicly counting down the days. His mother, Karlissa Saffold Harvey, had repeatedly suggested that Blueface could be freed before his projected December parole date, even promoting what she called a “celebrity coming home party” and promising limo pickup, family reunion, and a reset for the rapper’s personal life.

“I’m excited for new beginnings,” she said last month, while urging fans to buy tickets for the celebration.

Harvey continued to drum up speculation over the weekend, posting a cryptic video of someone lying under a blanket and refusing to confirm whether it was her son—unless fans subscribed to her Patreon. Blueface’s father, meanwhile, posted a more sentimental note, writing, “Today is the end of a chapter in my family’s life. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new chapter.”

Blueface turned himself in back in January after violating probation related to the 2021 assault of a club bouncer in Los Angeles. He was sentenced to four years last August but was ultimately released after serving 21 months.

With his return, Blueface steps back into a hip-hop landscape that has continued moving without him—but also one that hasn’t forgotten his name. What happens next depends on whether the rapper treats freedom as a reset or a spotlight. In his post, he stressed that everyone should follow him on Instagram soon, because he’s planning to make his page private.

Either way, his re-entry is already generating attention, and the cameras are rolling again—just like before he went inside.
