OutKast has officially been immortalized in the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The legendary Atlanta duo — André 3000 and Big Boi — received the honor on Saturday night (Nov. 8) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with fellow ATL star Childish Gambino presenting the induction.

Gambino paid an emotional tribute, crediting OutKast for shaping the sound and identity of Southern music and inspiring generations of artists who followed.

“Your influence echoes in everything, in every artist I love,” he said. “Atlanta is not the music mecca it has become without you. There is no Childish Gambino without you. There is no South without you… Two brothers who showed the world you don’t have to choose — just respect each other and love each other. Ladies and gentlemen, the truly undeniable OutKast.”

When Big Boi and André took the stage, the moment began with a playful round of Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who would speak first. Big Boi opened with gratitude, thanking God and reflecting on their decades-long brotherhood.

“First, ooh Lord, I want to thank the Most High for sure having us here tonight and for me meeting my brother from day one,” Big Boi said.

André 3000’s speech — which he revealed was freestyled — took a heartfelt turn as he reflected on OutKast’s humble beginnings in the Dungeon Family studio. He referenced Jack White’s own Rock Hall speech, where White spoke about “little rooms” sparking greatness.

“One thing that Jack said… he said something about little rooms,” André shared, pausing as emotion overcame him. “And we started in a little… little rooms. Great things start in little rooms.”

To cap off the night, Big Boi hit the stage once more — this time to perform a medley of OutKast classics alongside a star-studded lineup including Tyler, The Creator, J.I.D, Killer Mike, Janelle Monáe and Doja Cat.

The induction marks a historic moment not only for OutKast, but for Atlanta, the South, and Hip-Hop as a whole — celebrating two pioneers who rewrote the rules and changed the culture forever.
