Questlove has hinted that a posthumous album from the late D’Angelo is on the horizon.

Speaking with entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno over the weekend, the Roots drummer and filmmaker teased that unreleased music from the R&B icon is in the works. When asked about the possibility of hearing new material, Questlove simply replied, “You’ll see soon,” before performing at a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame tribute to Sly Stone in Los Angeles.

He added, “It’s always the sound of yesterday, but for the future. This record is no different,” suggesting the upcoming project will carry D’Angelo’s signature timelessness.

While no official title or release date has been announced, news of the album has already stirred excitement among fans. It’s still unclear whether the project will feature fully completed tracks by D’Angelo or if Questlove will help shape unfinished material into a finished work. Either way, the upcoming release promises to extend the soulful legacy of one of R&B’s most revered voices.
