Nelly and Ashanti helped spread holiday cheer in St. Louis by surprising local kids with 100 brand-new bicycles and helmets during a special giveaway event.
The couple partnered with Raising Cane’s to donate the bikes to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis. The surprise took place during the organization’s annual holiday party at its Adams Park location, where the gym was transformed into a festive scene lined with bikes wrapped in red ribbons as families enjoyed cookies, drinks, and holiday décor.
The moment carried personal meaning for both artists. Ashanti is a former Boys & Girls Club member, while Nelly spoke candidly about growing up in St. Louis and understanding firsthand what it feels like to wake up on Christmas with nothing under the tree. “Christmas is about the kids,” Nelly said, explaining that seeing the children’s reactions made the experience especially powerful.
Ashanti echoed his sentiments, describing the event as emotional and rewarding, saying it was beautiful to witness the kids’ excitement. Brandon Williams, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis, emphasized the importance of creating joyful experiences alongside mentorship and career development, noting that moments like this remind kids that people genuinely care about them.
During the event, Nelly and Ashanti personally handed out bikes, posed for photos, and spoke with families about the value of community and giving back. The St. Louis stop was part of a larger national holiday initiative by Raising Cane’s, which distributed more than 2,500 bicycles across 25 cities to support youth and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
