As Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, continues his quest to rebrand himself, he just suffered another L in court.
Kanye West Denied ‘Yews’ Trademark
According to a recent report from Radar Online, the Grammy winner recently had “more than 20” of his trademark applications denied. Over the term “Yews.”
According to the outlet, West tried to patent the name “under various goods and services, including food, beverages, clothing, household goods, jewelry, and even news reporting.”
Ye has tried to reinvent himself. By making amends with the Jewish community. He had even met with Rabbis toward the end of last year. He claimed that his past antisemitism was due to him dealing with “various issues” in the past. But the meeting was the first step in building back “strong walls brick by brick.”
However, even though he is on a path to redemption, others are not so quick to turn the other cheek. And his past decisions have begun to affect his current finances.
West was scheduled to perform a concert in São Paola, Brazil, on November 29. However, that show was nixed by the São Paola government, due to his past pro-nazi comments, according to CNN Brasil.
It is easy to see why the São Paulo Mayor made the decision that he did. The city has a very large Jewish community, with approximately 60,000 people. And their community represents about half of Brazil’s total Jewish population. Estimated to be around 120,000 to 130,000 people.
Couple that with the fact that West has aligned himself with Nazism and antisemitism. And even debuted a song called Heil Hitler. This is a salute to the late Nazi leader. It was a decision that had to be made by their government.
With his past comments still haunting him, it will be interesting to see how Kanye bounces back.
