Just when you thought Shedeur Sanders’ rookie campaign for the Cleveland Browns was over, another chapter opens.
The standout rookie was recently named a starter. For the AFC in the 2026 NFL Pro Bowl (as heard via NBC Sports). The news comes after NFL MVP finalist Drake Maye helped his New England Patriots advance to the Super Bowl this past Sunday. The Pro Bowl takes place the weekend before the Super Bowl. And since Maye will now be getting ready for the big game, Sanders has been named his replacement.
Shedeur Sanders Selected to Pro Bowl
Sanders will become just the second-ever fifth-round NFL Draft pick to be selected for the honor. The other was Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver, Puka Nacua.
The commentsabout Sanders’ selection went about as most expected it to on social media.
“Worse Pro Bowl ad than Tyler Huntley lowkey,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“The Pro Bowl has officially been invalidated as an accolade,” a second user chimed in.
“I thought Mitch Trubisky and Snoop Huntley couldn’t be topped as the worst Pro Bowl QBs ever, but here we are,” a third user added.
Sanders finished off his rookie campaign with 1400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 7 starts. The Browns finished the season with a record of 5-12 and another missed playoff berth.
Sanders came into the season as one of the more highly-touted NFL Draft Picks in 2025, after a standout two years at the University of Colorado, under his father, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. However, despite an abundance of hype, Sanders tumbled to the fifth round of the draft before being selected by the Browns in the fifth round.
Sanders may not be the only replacement named for the Pro Bowl Games. Chargers’ Justin Herbert and Bills’ QB Josh Allen were also slated to play. But after suffering injuries during their playoff runs, their availability is in doubt.
