Michael Jackson’s estate is not pleased.
According to Loren LoRosa from The Breakfast Club, a spokesperson for the late King of Pop’s estate confirmed that Sexyy Red’s recent cover of “Beat It” was done without authorization.
“We were totally unaware of this. The use of the music is unauthorized,” a spokesperson for the estate said.
Sources close to the situation say the estate did not appear happy about the remake at all, signaling potential legal or licensing issues surrounding the track’s usage.
As one of the most protected and valuable catalogs in music history, any unauthorized use of Michael Jackson’s music is bound to raise eyebrows. It remains to be seen whether further action will be taken regarding the cover.
