Charlamagne the God has become one of the more prominent voices in hip-hop media. But in his rise to the top, The Breakfast Club host has gained some frienemies. And one of those is rapper-turned-podcaster, Mase.

Mase Calls Out Charlamagne Over Past ‘Negative’ Comments

Charlamagne has been highly critical of Mase over the years. Questioning his authenticity because of the Harlem native’s constant switching between being a pastor and a rapper. Especially after he returned to the rap game, making music with the same secular content.

During a recent taping of his and Cam’ron’s sports talk show, It is What it Is, Mase called out Charlamagne for his past comments.

“It seemed like every time something would come up, Charlamagne would just talk about my name and just go in a negative direction,” Mase said via (JoeBuddenClips/X). “I didn’t know what the connection that we had was or where our paths crossed or what happened. But it just seemed like he always had a negative take on me. It was something I remembered, even when I started doing journalism. So, when I hear people say certain things about me, I kind of try to remember that same thing. I never met this guy, I don’t think we’ve crossed paths, I don’t think I know anybody that he knows.”

However, despite Charlamagne’s past criticism, Mase insists that he doesn’t hold a grudge against him and has since moved past it.

“It wasn’t something I held on to. It taught me a lesson,” he continued. “So, even when I’m up here, you don’t want somebody to feel like you’re just taking your platform. And because you have all of these people that listen to you, and you’re focusing on me in a negative way. That’s not the way to use a platform. That’s not good journalism.”

At the time of writing, Charlamagne has not responded to Mase’s comments.
