Rick Ross is addressing recent comments made by Gunplay regarding their relationship and his time with Maybach Music Group.
During a recent appearance on the M3S3 TV Podcast, Gunplay reflected on his music career and claimed that he and Ross are no longer close. He also said he felt let down by his former label boss, explaining that he never received the kind of budget or support he expected while signed to Maybach Music Group.
Ross responded by clarifying that the decision not to heavily push Gunplay’s career came from Def Jam Recordings, which handled the distribution. According to Ross, the label ultimately decided not to continue backing Gunplay’s releases.
Ross also suggested that Gunplay may have felt entitled to certain opportunities and argued that artists must work harder to create their own momentum. While addressing the situation, Ross even showed off a stack of cash he keeps at his home, emphasizing his point about hustling and success.
The back-and-forth has reignited discussion about Gunplay’s time with Maybach Music Group and the challenges artists sometimes face navigating label support and distribution deals.
