The Academy’s statement is in response to a clip that surfaced on social media ahead of the awards ceremony on Sunday. In the clip, Teyana scolds a man who appeared to be a security guard for pushing her.
“You are a man putting your hands on a female. You’re very rude, you’re very rude, you’re very rude,” she says in the clip.
Another person in the area appears to ask her what caused the incident, to which she responds, “because he is putting his hands on a female. He literally shoved me … What’s the problem?”
The Academy also noted that an outside security firm hired the security guard. But they made it clear that they addressed the guard’s behavior and let them know that it was “unacceptable.”
