Lauryn Hill shocked Ye’s SoFi crowd in Los Angeles Friday night (April 3rd) by coming out and performing a few songs. Hill’s performance ranged from classic hits to full circle moments fans never thought would happen.
What Did Lauryn Hill Perform?
Near the end of Ye’s night 2 set, he saved his best guest for last. Suddenly, the legend Ms. Lauryn Hill rose up to the sphere. As electric guitars rang out to signal the epicness bestowed upon the fans, the music switched to acoustic, prompting a huge cheer from the crowd.
Then, it happened, Hill began singing part of her hidden gem of her MTV Unplugged 2.0 album “Mystery Of Iniquity.” That song was interpolated by Kanye West, with Hill’s vocals replaced by Syleena Johnson after West’s label couldn’t clear the sample. 22 years later, for the first time ever, Hill sang the hook of “All Falls Down” with the man formally known as Kanye West, creating a stunning full circle moment.
Hill then performed her classic track off of Miseducation “Lost Ones.” After the song, Ye left the stage out of respect, allowing Ms. Hill to takeover. She then brought her sons YG Marley and Zion Marley on stage to perform “Praise Jah In The Moonlight,” which samples their grandfather Bob Marley’s “Crisis.”
West then returned to the stage to perform a mash up of Hill’s “Doo Wap (That Thing)” his “Believe What I Say,” which samples “Doo Wap.” Ms. Hill then left the stage, leaving fans audibly gasping.

How Did Fans React?
It seems like Ye saved the best surprises and performances for night two, as he brought out Travis Scott, CeeLo Green, and returning artists from night one Andre Troutman, and his daughter, North West.
The starpower as opposed to night one left some fans dumbfounded.
“Nah bruh I feel bad for the Night 1 fans,” said one user. “Imagine buying Night 1 tickets and thinking: oh cool Don Toliver, oh cool North,” said another user. “Then coming home, feeling satisfied, turning on your computer to watch the stream for night 2 and then BOOM: Lauryn F****** Hill bro lmfaooo. “Night 2 s***** all over night 1 easily, ” said another user. “Kanye west still the greatest ever.”
You can catch Ms. Hill live when she brings her Diaspora Calling Festival to London this summer.
