Additionally, Loren Lorosa of Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club spoke with a source close to the situation. And they said that the structure had officially been closed off as of Tuesday (April 21) after being deemed “unsafe” due to potential “ice shifting.”
As you might expect, fans had a lot to say in the comments section of the social media post.
“Imagine needing firefighters to wrap up your gimmick because your fans don’t know how to act. Cornball catastrophe,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Fireman taking out Iceman. Kendrick should name his album Fireman and drop same day,” a second user chimed in.
“They could literally inform Drake to organise a team to start removing the structure since its purpose is accomplished,” a third user suggested.
On Monday (April 20), Drake revealed that the release date of his new project was hidden inside a large ice sculpture. That appeared in Downtown Toronto over the weekend. And after almost 12 hours of trying to melt and break the ice, one lucky streamer, Kiska, found a mystery bag. Hidden inside one of the blocks of the sculpture.
After the bag was found, Kishka was instructed to go to Drake’s house, The Embassy. And open the bag, which contained a piece of paper that revealed the album’s release date — May 15.
Kishka was also gifted a bag containing $50,000 for his efforts.
All in all, a solid rollout for Drake. But it appears to be over.
