At one point, Odell Beckham Jr. asserted himself as one of the most dynamic playmakers of the 2010s. However, injuries and poor situations led to a decline, robbing fans of what could have been. Now, as his career winds down, he’s returning to the city that once loved him.

Who Did Odell Beckham Jr. Sign With?

On Monday (June 1st) the New York Giants announced that Odell Beckham Jr. was returning home, signing with them eight years after being traded to the Cleveland Browns. This marks his 4th team in five years, with the former All Pro making stops in Baltimore, Miami, and winning a Superbowl with the Los Angeles Rams.

The three-time Pro Bowler has seen a noticeable dip in production after entering his thirties. Beckham tore his ACL twice, once in 2020 on the Cleveland Browns, and again in 2021 in the Superbowl with the Rams. Since then, he bounced around teams, including a stint with John Harbaugh on the Ravens. Last year, Beckham stuck to the sidelines, serving a six game PED suspension. No team signed him afterward.

OBJ took to Instagram to announce the news.

“Nothin was ever given to me I worked for everything I have. Never give up on urself. Home Team i’m back…. Let’s get itttt,” Beckham Jr. posted.

Beckham returns to the team at a crucial time, as the Giants are still unsure about when star wide receiver Malik Nabors will be able to return to practice. The rest of their pass catching corp consists of veteran Darius Slayton, former Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons receiver Darnell Mooney, former Pittsburgh Steeler Calvin Austin, journeyman JuJu Smith-Schuster, and the current number 13, Jalin Hyatt, among others. It’s unknown what Beckham Jr.’s role will be, but it appears he’ll get a shot at cracking the roster.

How Did Fans React To The Signing?

Fans seemed split on the reunion, with many relishing in the nostalgia, while others saw it as another recession indicator.

“He made a whole career off of one good catch,” one user posted.

“I like it. It’s not a franchise-changer, but it’s the kind of move that makes the 2026 season feel a little more interesting and gives Giants fans something to cheer about in June. Welcome home, OBJ. Let’s see if that old Giants magic is still there,” another user posted.

“In response to all the Trump controversy [by Jaxson Dart], the Giants signed a receiver who hasn’t been good since the Obama administration,” another user posted.

“It really is 2016 isn’t it??,” another user posted.

Celebrities also had thoughts about the signing, mostly showering Beckham Jr. with support.

“He’s Home,” Robert Griffin III posted.

“Story book,” Kyle Kuzma posted.

“Letsssssss gooooooooo broooo!!!!!!!,” La La Anthony posted.

“Go finish your breakfast! All the way IN! CONGRATS!,” Lebron James posted.

It’s safe to say there’s a healthy mix of skepticism and excitement over the signing.
