Floyd Mayweather has found himself in more hot water, which is just more material for his longtime nemesis, 50 Cent.
50 Cent Clowns Mayweather Over Cancelled Fight
Money Mayweather has been having some big money issues as of late. Which has landed him in some hot water. Which caused one of his recent fights to be nixed. 50 posted a screenshot of the story to his social media account on Thursday (June 25). He appeared to insinuate that Mayweather has been trying to reach out to him for help.
“Champ, I keep missing your call. The time is different, I’m in Ibiza,” he captioned the Instagram post.
Earlier this month, when news surfaced that Mayweather was facing jail time for allegedly passing a bad check, 50 appeared to offer an olive branch.
“Damn, Champ, WTF is up? If you need some money, just call me. We could have kept this s**t from getting this messy. Now the Feds are looking for you, love you bro, I’m not mad at you no more, call me,” he said in a post shared to his social media on June 16.
However, 50 Cent is a known internet troll. So it’s unclear whether or not his offer was genuine.
Floyd in More Legal Trouble
Mayweather was scheduled to fight in an exhibition match against Mike Zambidis in Greece on June 27. However, according to a June 25 report from ESPN, the bout was called off due to the boxing star’s legal woes. A promotion company, CSI, which was contracted to host two other Mayweather fights, sued Mayweather in New York for breach of contract. He thus filed an emergency injunction to postpone his bout against Zambidis.
“Because Plaintiffs’ Motion remains pending without a ruling, the Mayweather-Zambidis event will no longer proceed in Athens, Greece as planned on Saturday evening,” attorney Melissa Glass wrote in a letter to the court. “Plaintiffs’ commencement of this action and filing of the Motion, as well as their legal threats domestically and in Greece, have effectively stopped any promotion or distribution plans for the event and halted ticket sales.”
At the time of writing, Mayweather has not spoken out about the cancelled fight.
