Odd Future’s R&B offshoot The Internet is coming back. The band made up of Syd, Patrick Paige, Steve Lacy, Matt Martians, and others is coming back after 8 years.
When Did The Internet Announce Their New Album?
While sitting down with the New York Times Popcast, Syd, Martians, and Lacy announced fans of Hive Mind and Ego Death no longer had to wait for new music.
“Yeah we’re working on a band album too,” Syd said. “We have Steve [Lacy] beats on the album, Matt’s been sampling other beats of ours.”
When asked further, Martians clarified the timeline of the album.
“I’d say we’ve been working on it for four to five years now,” Martians said. “Because the Pandemic happened and we have all this music from all this time, and it just built into this moment. We wanna do things that aren’t money plays with The Internet.
Syd then said the album will likely come early next year in 2027, due to solo tours by the various band members.
This will be the first album from the band since 2018’s Hive Mind, which has become a favorite for younger Millennials and Gen-Z.

What Are The Band Members Up To?
Tonight, Steve Lacy drops his highly-anticipated follow up to Gemini Rights with his new album Oh Yeah?. Syd also has a new album dropping called Beard, her first since 2022’s Broken Hearts Club.
Patrick Paige II also released an album back in May. Meanwhile Matt Martians dropped an album in 2024.
