Celeste Rivas’ family is reportedly “horrified” after D4VD tried to paint her as the aggressor in court earlier this week.
Rivas’ Family ‘Horrified’ By D4VD’s Defense Strategy
Per a recent report from TMZ, text evidence was presented during the singer’s court appearance on Monday (July 27). Amid their romantic relationship, Rivas became upset when D4VD began to get close with a person named Aysia Collins.
In one of the texts revealed in court on Monday, Rivas allegedly wrote:
“Oh my f***ing God, I swear to God, I’ll kill u.”
She also allegedly said that she would tell her father lies about him and threatened his singing career. It was one of the last text exchanges before Rivas ceased contact with the singer.
The singer also reportedly told police that Rivas lied to him about her age.
Following their court date, the family attorney for Rivas, Patrick Steinfeld, said that they are “horrified” by the defense’s strategy.
“The family was horrified that the defense attorneys brought up evidence to put the blame on a 14-year-old child,” Steinfeld said via HotNewHipHop.
He also added: “They made allegations that didn’t have any evidentiary basis, including the assertion that Celeste may have committed suicide or that Celeste was violent. I personally found that very disturbing. It seems that the defense attorneys are stopping at nothing in an attempt to discredit the prosecution’s evidence.”
To bring things up to speed, Rivas’ body was found dismembered inside a Tesla registered to D4VD in September 2025. The vehicle was abandoned in Hollywood Hills, California, before being towed to a nearby impound lot. After receiving several reports of a strange smell coming from the vehicle, police were called and discovered Rivas’ decomposing body.
If convicted, the singer could face life in prison.
