Courtney Kemp is the writer who brought the Power Universe to life. However, she no longer writes for any of the spinoffs of the hit STARZ series. Due to a rift with the show’s executive producer, 50 Cent. During a recent interview, Fif dove into why there was tension between him and Kemp.
50 Cent Reveals Reason For Rift With Courtney Kemp
Kemp is the writer and creator of Power. But as an already established rap and movie star, it was 50’s connection to Power that drew much of the initial interest from fans when the show debuted in June 2014. In a clip posted to his social media account, 50 says that was the source of the rift between him and Kemp. According to the rap star, Kemp felt like he was getting all of the credit for her work as the writer and showrunner.
50 also says that he was not the only person involved on the show with whom Kemp had an issue. According to the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ creator, Kemp also had an issue with Omari Hardwick. The actor who starred as the show’s main character, Ghost.
50 claims that when Hardwick began to gain notoriety for his role as Ghost, she also became jealous. And even began to consider killing his character off in season 3 of the show. 50 says that he came to Hardwick’s defense and stood firm against the idea. To which she gave him an ultimatum of killing Ghost or 50 sacrificing his character, Kanan.
Kanan suffered an apparent death in season three, but was found alive in season four.
