It looks like Charlamagne Tha God could end up buying Dame Dash’s life rights…if he wants. An auction for them has been proposed.
It was recently reported that a trustee overseeing Dash’s bankruptcy filed court documents is seeking permission to sell rights connected to his life story. The proposed sale would reportedly include Dash voice, image, likeness, biography, identifying characteristics and the right to portray events from his childhood through the date of his bankruptcy filing.
During a recent video posted by The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne made it clear that he would be interested in acquiring those rights.
“I’m especially interested in a Roc-A -Fella movie, there’s footage, a lot of content could be created out of that, I’m intrigued. I know Cam’ron would be interested in buying that with me, 50 [Cent] would too.”
The conversation came as Dash criticized The Breakfast Club and Loren LoRosa for focusing on negative developments surrounding his financial situation. The show responded in its caption by defending LoRosa’s reporting while noting there was “a lot to unpack” regarding the latest bankruptcy developments.
Dash Life Rights
If approved by the court, the potential sale of Dash life rights could open the door for outside parties to develop projects based on his life and career. According to a report from AllHipHop.com, the trustee is hoping to sell them to Everlasting Films, who’ve set $37,000 as the starting bid. To beat the bid, someone has to up the price by over $10,000 per attempt.
The only Everlasting Films we could verify is a documentary and wedding film company started in 2008. However, Christopher Brown, an attorney for Josh Webber, Muddy Water Pictures, and others, is saying they should get to bid on Dash’s life rights as well, as they hold a $4 Million defamation judgement against him.
