However, fans and prediction markets were rattled after it was revealed Cole is not going for the Grammy at all. According to a report by The Grammy Guru, corroborated by NFR Podcast, J. Cole has decided to not submit any of his music for consideration.
This leaves the Grammys in a peculiar spot, as the two front running albums in Hip Hop categories will not be eligible for the award.
Neither J. Cole or his team have commented on the situation.
Currently, it appears the new front runners to win Grammy for best Hip Hop album is Cardi B’s Am I The Drama and Don Toliver’s Octane. Other contenders include ASAP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb, Isaiah Rashad’s It’s Been Awful, and Baby Keem’s Casino.
Kanye West has also submitted his comeback album Bully for consideration.
