While speaking on T.I.’s expediTIously podcast, Steel says he may not have made time for it.
I was getting calls from [Dirk’s] management but I was always busy,” Steel said. “Then Jeffery called me and said, ‘I love Durk. Durk is my brother, I understand they’ve been calling you. Can you just make a meeting with them and work it out.’ He’s a great guy. I was already eager to do it. It was just my schedule.”
From there, a trial date was set and Steel joined the team in time to contribute. This ultimately may have saved Dirk’s life as the defense were able to make a case and beat the odds against him.
After days of deliberation, the jury found Lil Durk not guilty of all charges against him. These included conspiracy to commit stalking, conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, stalking involving a weapon, stalking resulting in death, and use of facilities to commit murder. If he was convicted of these charges, he faced life in prison.
However, the work is not done, as Durk still has an upcoming VICAR trial which has been delayed to next year. Prosecutors filed a motion to delay the trial, which Judge Fitzgerald, who’s presiding over the case. It will now happen August 30th, 2027.
