The 2024 rap feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar took the rap industry by storm. And put hip-hop at the center of the music industry. But even after the beef went viral, its impact may still have been undersold.
Blueface Says Inmates Sides With Drake During Kendrick Beef
According to rap artist Blueface Baby, the feud between the two Grammy-winners even made its way to the penitentiary.
“I think it was dope. I like sh** like that,” he said during a recent appearance on the Bootleg Kev Podcast. “Everybody is choosing their side. It’s crazy… n****s in jail like, ‘Man, I’m ready to go do it for Drake right now. When I get out, I’m gonna go kill somebody for OVO.’”
Blueface also said that some inmates felt so connected to the beef that they claimed to have close ties to the OVO founder.
“They’re saying they ties… like, ‘my sister, baby daddy, cousin, auntie,’ people were really picking a side,” he added.
“To me, I thought it was dope. I thought that was like the culture needed that.”

Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s rap feud was one of the more explosive events of 2024. The two emcees traded lyrical low blows in a series of songs. Kendrick kicked off the beef when he called out J. Cole and Drizzy on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” He noted there was no “Big 3” in hip-hop, but rather he stood alone as the top dog.
J. Cole eventually elected to bow out of the feud. But Drake and Kendrick exchanged a series of scathing diss tracks. And even though the beef has officially “ended” the impacts of their feud are still being felt today.
