Sexyy Red is continuing to ride for Drake in a major way.
The St. Louis rapper recently caught up with Complex to reflect on their growing creative chemistry, praising the Toronto superstar’s instincts in the studio while opening up about the making of several standout collaborations from his latest releases.
“Working with Drake always fun as hell ’cause he really be in his bag,” Sexyy Red said. “And for real for real he got the best ear in music.”
Their collaborative streak dates back to 2023’s ‘Rich Baby Daddy’ alongside SZA, a viral standout from Drake’s album For All The Dogs that helped push Sexyy Red further into rap’s mainstream spotlight. Since then, the duo’s friendship has become one of Hip-Hop’s most entertaining alliances, from tour appearances to livestream antics built around their running “baby daddy” joke.
Sexxy Red Tells Drivers to Get Drake’s Album
Sexyy doubled down on that energy last Friday night (May 15), unveiling a massive billboard featuring herself and Drake alongside the message: “GO GET MY BABY DADDY ALBUM WTF!” She later reposted the billboard on X with a string of lipstick, ice cube, and blood drop emojis.
The promo arrived during the release weekend for Drake’s ambitious three-project rollout: Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour. Sexyy Red appears on “Hurrr Nor Thurr” from Habibti and “Cheetah Print” from Maid of Honour, the latter quickly becoming one of the internet’s favorite viral records from the drop.
Speaking on “Cheetah Print,” Sexyy Red explained that the record was intentionally made with a playful, dance-heavy vibe in mind.
“We was definitely on that ‘Cha Cha Slide’ type timing,” she shared. “I knew it was going up when I opened TikTok and everybody was using the sound.”
Despite mixed reactions to the song online, the rapper says the response on social media proved the track connected exactly how they intended.
“I ain’t even expect it to blow that fast,” she continued. “But seeing people shake a—, make videos, and really f—k with the song like that made me happy ’cause we had so much fun making ‘Cheetah Print.’”
