Even nearly a year after their beef started, the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has remained a hot topic. The latest person to chime in on the longstanding beef is rap superstar, Nelly.
The final chapter of the Kendrick and Drake Beef was Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance, where he performed his 2024 smash hit “Not Like Us.” The track that takes aim at Drizzy.
During a recent appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, Nelly said that despite people’s shock by Lamar’s performance, it is something that should be expected from the Compton artist.
“Kendrick did Kendrick. I don’t know what people were expecting him to do. Kendrick is a rapper. He wasn’t gonna two-step. I think he did a great job.” He said, “Who I also think should get a lot of credit, is who put that d**n show together. Because of that choreography and all that movement and simultaneously, whoever did that, behind the scenes, they need a raise.”
However, Drake is still showing that taking a loss in a rap beef can’t hold him down. His hometown of Toronto, Canada will play host to the World Cup for the first time in June of 2026. And Drake could be a performer at the event’s first-ever halftime show.
With the World Cup being one of the biggest international sporting events, a Drake performance in 2026 could blow Lamar’s Super Bowl performance ratings out of the water.
Drake has yet to respond to the claims. However, he did previously explain how Toronto’s cultural versatility makes it the perfect host city for the global event.
“Canada as a whole, we have an incredible melting pot. But in Toronto, there are just so many different cultural experiences,” the 6 God explained. “So when the world comes, it’s going to be beautiful.”
