Pastor Troy is speaking out about what he feels was an uncredited part of Jeezy’s rise.
During an interview with Bad Speakers, the Atlanta rap veteran claimed Jeezy did not really start “poppin” until he began using ad-libs that Troy says were part of his own signature style. According to Pastor Troy, producer Shawty Redd played a role in introducing Jeezy to those ad-libs in the studio.
Troy said that at the time, he kept things cool because Jeezy repeatedly told him they were going to work together. However, that collaboration never ended up happening.
The comments have sparked conversation among hip-hop fans about influence, originality, and how much early Atlanta artists helped shape the sound that later became dominant in trap music. Pastor Troy’s impact on Southern rap is well documented, and his remarks add another layer to the ongoing discussion about credit within Atlanta’s hip-hop history.
Jeezy bit his whole style. If you go back and listen to Jeezy's first album you can hear the cadence, flow, and adlibs of Pastor Troy. Even Pastor Troy himself will tell you that Jeezy bit him https://t.co/OrWM2EdTUi pic.twitter.com/RzsBMYgtFI
