Carti shared a photo of himself to his Instagram Story, soundtracking it with Jay-Z’s 2001 single, “Girls Girls Girls.” Shortly afterward, he shared a screenshot of a text from producer Wheezy, which stated that the producer will sample the iconic Hov track for Playboi.
Fans surmised that the rapper is still working on his third studio album, however, Carti assured fans that’s not the case.
“MY ALBUM DONE ME N WHEEZY TALKING ABOUT SOME OL OTHER SH*TTT,” he clarified in a post.
Playboi Carti seemingly went a step further than confirming the project was complete. According to his website, the rapper promises to deliver a project this month.
“Album release date to be announced,” the disclaimer reads. Digital album will be available near the release date, no later than six months from September 12, 2024.”
Playboi Carti first announced his third album in 2021, three months after the release of his Billboard chart-topping Whole Lotta Red. Cash Carti has been pushing I AM MUSIC a lot as of recently after years of speculation and conflicting reports. Last month, billboards in Miami and Los Angeles displayed messages like “MUSIC IS COMING” and “I AM MUSIC MF” in Carti’s signature font.
It’s still to be seen whether King Vamp will hold up his end of the bargain after all these years.
