The rapper has already confirmed the project’s title — Forever & A Day — which continues the thematic thread of his earlier releases, The Never Story and The Forever Story. He even hinted at how close the album is during an appearance at Paris Fashion Week, revealing, “It’s been turned in. It’s coming really f—king soon.”
Adding fuel to the excitement, JID took to Instagram on Tuesday (April 15) with a cryptic animated teaser announcing his new single “WRK,” slated to drop on April 18.
Alongside the visual, the Atlanta native shared a candid reflection about the creative process that followed his last album.
“Starting this new journey coming off The Forever Story has been a very strange, productive yet tedious process,” he wrote in the caption.
“I remember not feeling like I got what I think I deserved after that album came out and it sent me into a dark place (for maybe 20 mins cus I ain’t no b*tch). Fast forward to Pluss playing this beat for me in the studio and all I could hear was my OG coach saying ‘Let’s go to WORK.’ I live my life by the saying ‘You can only control what you can control.’ So this is the first step into a new world that I control. And. It’s. F*cking. UGLY.”
JID and Metro Boomin In Production As Well
In addition to his solo work, JID is building buzz around a collaborative project with Metro Boomin. The two Atlanta heavyweights were first spotted in the studio together back in 2023, sparking speculation among fans that has only grown with time.
The fellow Atlantaians premiered “WRK” during JID’s set at Dreamville Festival a few weeks ago.
Speaking with Complex at the festival, JID confirmed that both projects are well underway — but remained tight-lipped about when they’ll actually drop.
“When the work is there, you’re gonna know exactly what it is,” he said. “I promise, when it’s presented, you’re gonna know exactly what it is. There’s not gonna be so much of a mystery around it.”
