Despite only having one studio album under her belt, Cardi has remained a hot topic in the music industry. But a lot of that has to do with her name being in the midst of controversy over the past seven years. From rap beefs to court cases and divorces, Cardi’s name has remained in the headlines.
Ironically enough, it is the controversy that she has been involved in that gave her the inspiration for the name of her second album.
“It’s like, ‘Damn, does drama chase me? Or am I the drama?” Cardi said during a recent interview with Apple Music 1 via Billboard. “I just really think I was born with an anointed light. Sometimes the light is great, but it also disturbs people’s peace. It draws people to me, and it’s not always going to be good. That light might bother people. Maybe it’s too bright, it’s too loud. It’s always been like this to me.”
