One of the godfather’s of making Atlanta trap the dominant sound in Hip Hop for over a decade has reportedly suffered a major heart attack.
Pierre “P” Thomas, the co-founder of Quality Control was rushed to the hospital this morning in Las Vegas. TMZ reported the situation and Complex received a statement from the record label about P’s health.
The statement reads that Thomas “is alive and currently hospitalized receiving medical care,” the statement reads. “Everyone keep P and his family in their thoughts and prayers and respectfully give them the privacy and space they need during this time. We deeply appreciate everyone’s concern, support, prayers, and loving energy right now.”
Quality Control was founded by Thomas in 2013 alongside Kevin “Coach K” Lee. The label is responsible for bringing up artists such as Cardi B, OG Maco, City Girls, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, and The Migos, among others.
The label helped usher in the 2010s takeover of Atlanta trap music and still houses Billboard level artists today.
Other outlets like My Mixtapez, Tasha K, and Raphouse TV erroneously reported P had died. However, according to reps of Thomas, he’s still alive, in the ICU with family by his side.
