Ice Cube’s Friday franchise has become a staple in the urban community. So it was a big deal when Ice Cube confirmed that the fourth and final installment had finally begun production.
Mike Epps Confirms McGruder as Writer For ‘Friday’ Film
The latest update came from one of the stars of Next Friday and Friday After Next, Mike Epps. During an appearance on Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club, Epps made a major revelation about the upcoming film. Aaron McGruder is one of the writers of the forthcoming film.
“Me, Ice Cube, Aaron McGruder, and DJ Pooh were just together sitting in a room writing this movie. The movie [is going to] be crazy,” he said.
In case you’re not familiar, McGruder is the creator behind the iconic television series The Boondocks. The show became famous for tackling political and pop culture issues in the early 2000s. Epps says that McGruder teaming up with him and Ice Cube will bring a level of “top-tier” writing to the film.
“That’s top-tier writing, and I think that’s why Ice Cube went and got him [because] he’s going to bring that to the movie,” the comedian added. “And [that’s] not to say that we [weren’t going to] make it hot like we’ve always made it hot, but this is [going to] give it another extension.”
Fans on social media were overcome with excitement after Epps confirmed McGruder as a writer on the upcoming production.
“Aaron McGruder being in the writers’ room for the next Friday movie is so fire,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I love the fact Aaron McGruder is one of the writers fr,” another user added.
“Ice Cube, DJ Pooh, Aaron McGruder?? This s**t is about to be legendary!” a third user said.
Last Friday sounds like it is going to be a classic that was worth the wait.
