Netflix’s new film, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, chronicles the years of abuse and crimes committed by the Bad Boy Records Founder. One of the people at the center of the film is Diddy’s former girlfriend and label artist, Cassie Ventura.
50 Cent Says He Spoke to Cassie Before Diddy Doc Debuted
Although Cassie is one of the main discussion points during the documentary, she herself does not appear in the film. This led many people to question whether she had signed off on having her name and likeness featured in the Netflix film. However, 50 Cent, the executive producer, recently cleared the air about that.
The Power creator said that he held conversations with Cassie as well as her husband, Alex Fine, while the documentary was in production.
“It was important that I spoke to her to understand how things transpired,” he said
“[I had] conversations with her and her husband. [We had] separate, individual communication. When you hear things multiple times from different people, it rings true.”
Cassie is the person who is the catalyst of all of Diddy’s legal drama. In November 2023, she came forward to share her chilling account of her relationship. While they were together, Cassie says that she was physically and sexually abused by the Bad Boy Records Founder.
She brought him to a civil trial. And Diddy quickly settled. But that was only the beginning of Diddy’s legal trouble. Over the next several months, several other people came forward alleging that they had experienced similar abuse at the hands of the music mogul.
It was Cassie’s testimony that ultimately led to the FBI’s investigation into his years of crime. This ultimately led to him being arrested in September 2024.
Diddy is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence and is scheduled to be released in June of 2028.
