When it comes to the greatest lyricists of all time, not many can compare to the King of the South, T.I. However, one artist that Tip’s fans have aligned Tip with throughout his career is Lil Wayne.

T.I. Shuts Down Notion That Lil Wayne Inspired Him

T.I. recently appeared on DJ Whoo Kid’s podcast. He noted that he was a “fan” of the Hot Boyz and praised Weezy for how he has “evolved” throughout his career.

“I’m a Hot Boys fan. I sold brack to the Hot Boys. To see what he’s become and what he’s evolved into, it’s kind of like we always knew it,” T.I. said. “But to see it come to fruition is super dope. I think he’s definitely legendary.”

Following T.I.’s initial comments, the rap star was asked if he viewed Lil Wayne as an inspiration. But he was quick to shut down that claim.

“Excuse me?” he hit back. “Hell no. He ain’t influence me. I ain’t said no sh*t like that.”

But despite him not viewing Lil Wayne as an inspiration, he did admit that the two of them have “pushed” each other to a higher level throughout their careers.

“We do push each other,” he continued. “When I hear him do something dope, I say, okay, let me go do something doper. I think that’s what it takes to revolutionize and set the game on another level. […] I think Lil Wayne’s got his own lane and I think I got mine.”

T.I. is one of the more confident artists of his generation. And with a catalog as extensive as his, it is easy to see why. During a recent appearance on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, he was asked how he thinks he would fare in a potential Verzuz matchup.

He welcomed the challenge of facing off against his rap contemporaries. But ultimately, he does not believe it will be much of a competition. Because there just aren’t that many people who are better than him.

“So I go against anybody. I don’t give a damn who you got. Bring them on. They can’t f**k with me. Live performance can’t f**k with me. Hit song for hit song, you just can’t f**k with me,” T.I. said (Via Big_Business/X ).

At the time of writing, T.I. has not responded to Lil Wayne’s comments.
