The Game shared his official thoughts on J. Cole’s latest album The Fall-Off, offering a balanced and detailed review via Instagram that praised the project while pointing out areas for improvement.
In his breakdown, The Game applauded Cole’s signature storytelling and consistent production, noting that both longtime fans and newer listeners would find plenty to appreciate. He highlighted moments on the album that he felt could have been impactful during earlier stages of Cole’s highly discussed rap beef, suggesting some tracks showed the kind of energy he wished had surfaced at that time.
However, The Game also shared constructive criticism, saying he would have trimmed the album by six or seven songs. While he felt the core of a “super solid project” was present, he believed a tighter sequence and fewer filler tracks could have elevated the album overall.
Despite his disagreement with Cole’s decision to step back from the beef, The Game made it clear that it did not affect his critique. He emphasized that The Fall-Off is still “a good project,” especially in what he described as an era where real hip-hop often gets overlooked. Ultimately, he rated the album a 7/10, closing by inviting honest feedback from true hip-hop fans and teasing his next listen: Don Toliver’s latest release.
