Jury selection is officially underway in the murder case connected to Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio.
This marks the second trial tied to the high-profile killing. Last year, Alicia Andrews was found guilty of manslaughter after prosecutors said she tracked Foolio’s movements leading up to the fatal shooting.
Now, four more defendants — Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, Davion Murphy, and Rashad Murphy — are headed to trial for their alleged roles. All four tried to get separate trials, but the judge denied those requests. Prosecutors claim Andrews helped line things up by dropping Foolio’s location, setting the stage for the ambush.
Julio Foolio, born Charles Jones, was shot and killed outside a Holiday Inn on June 23, 2024. According to the Tampa Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call at a McKinley Drive hotel parking lot, where multiple vehicles had been hit by gunfire. Foolio was in town celebrating his birthday at the time. Three others were also injured in the shooting.
The four men are now facing premeditated first-degree murder and evidence tampering charges. Prosecutors have made it clear — if convicted, they plan to pursue the death penalty.
