Earlier this month, Pooh Shiesty was arrested. After leading several men from Memphis to Dallas to confront Gucci Mane over a contract dispute.
Pooh Shiesty wanted out of his deal with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad label. And to do that, he held the rapper at gunpoint, coercing him into signing the contract.
Shiesty’s Lawyer Questions Validity of Staples Footage
Pooh Shiesty’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr, was among the group of men who traveled to Dallas to confront Gucci Mane. One of the pieces of evidence that the feds have to support this claim is Williams Sr, at a local Staples print shop. Allegedly printing out a copy of the agreement that granted Shiesty his release. However, the rapper’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, says that is not necessarily the case.
“I don’t even care if they’re at Staples. They are going to a recording studio,” Cohen said during a recent conversation with Jesse Weber for Law and Crime’s Sidebar. “Normally, my clients usually print off the lyrics for different individuals. If you have five individuals that are going to be on one record, and they each have a section or a part, they’ll usually print those things off.”
Still, even if the rapper’s attorney is pessimistic about what documents were being printed out at Staples, the feds still have other evidence they claim to have found during their investigation. This includes ankle monitor data, bus tickets, and toll bills. As well as photos that some of the men posted to their social media accounts, wearing the stolen items.
If Pooh Shiesty is convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
