Spike Lee Celebrates With Knicks Fans After Game 2
The Knicks inched one step closer to winning their first championship since 1973. After defeating the San Antonio Spurs to take a 2-0 lead in the 2026 Finals. New York City was in pandemonium after the win. And film director Spike Lee, who is the ultimate Knicks superfan, was right in the middle of it all.
In a clip shared by ESPN New York on X, the Do the Right Thing director is shown celebrating with fans, with his head peering out of the sunroof. Donning a New York Knicks fitted cap. As fans serenade him with the chorus of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ Empire State of Mind.

You know that this has to feel good for Spike. Having stayed loyal to the Knicks when they were among the worst teams in the NBA.
But even though the Knicks are in a favorable position to capture the title, and the fans are celebrating, the players have an entirely different mindset. Especially Mikal Bridges.
Bridges, who scored 20 points on Friday Night, is all too familiar with blown opportunities in the Finals. He was a part of the Phoenix Suns team that held a 2-0 lead over the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021 and ended up losing in six games.
When speaking to reporters after Game 2, he emphasized the need to remain “desperate.”
“Same situation, 2-0, just got to keep level-headed and keep playing desperate,” Bridges said. “Being here before, knowing how it was gonna be and how much effort you need to give at every single moment.”
The series will now shift to New York City for Game 3.
