The sudden passing of hip-hop super producer BryTavious Chambers, better known as Tay Keith, has sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community.
Tay Keith’s Family Confirms His Death in Heartfelt Statement
The rapper’s passing was confirmed on Thursday (June 18) after he was found unresponsive in his Memphis apartment.
On Friday (June 18), Tay Keith’s family released a statement confirming his passing. And in the heartfelt statement, they paid homage to a game-changer who they described as “a cultural force whose work helped define the sound of a generation.”
“Above all, BryTavious was a beloved son, brother, uncle, family member, and friend,” the obituary reads, as caught by Complex. “While the world knew him as Tay Keith, his family knew him as BryTavious. A source of love, strength, laughter, and guidance.”
Tay Keith had become a household name in the hip-hop community over the years. His “Tay Keith f**k these n****s up” producer tag became well-known around the industry. Especially after producing hit records like Blocboy JB and Drake’s Look Alive, Beyoncé, and Before I Let Go
Sexyy Red’s SkeeYee.
Tay Keith’s family added that, even though he is no longer here on Earth, they take comfort in knowing his legacy will live on. He has created several records that will continue to be played for years.
“We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the music he created, the opportunities he provided, and the lives he touched,” the statement adds.
Police said that they were called to the producer’s apartment on Thursday to do a welfare check. And say that they don’t suspect that foul play is involved in his passing.
“He was found dead in his Martin St apt this afternoon by officers performing a welfare check,” Police said in a statement caught by Rolling Stone. “His death is unclassified pending autopsy results.”
As of now, information on the producer’s cause of death is still pending.
