Lil Wayne has confirmed that he and Madi Cannon have decided to go their separate ways, while also clearing up rumors surrounding their relationship status.
The rap legend revealed that the two are not engaged, despite recent speculation that suggested otherwise. In a statement, Wayne spoke respectfully about Cannon and explained that the decision to part ways came from a place of care.
“I had a beautiful thing going with an amazing person, but, obviously, due to the temperature of today’s crazy world and culture, I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So we decided to part,” Wayne said.
While he did not go into further detail, Wayne’s comments suggest the breakup was mutual and handled with respect. The statement also puts an end to rumors that the two were planning to get married.
