For over a decade, Erykah Badu hadn’t dropped new music. Despite her legendary status and fans desperately seeking it, Badu decided to embrace the live music experience and stick to the hits, lending her creativity to stage direction and live art.
However, in 2026, that all changed when Badu and fellow legend, The Alchemist, teamed up for their collab album BEFORE THE WORLD BLOWS.
After the album dropped on August 28th, AL and Badu did some interviews, including with Ebro for Apple Music.
There, he spoke on how working with Badu changed his life.
“She taught me just to be a better person,” Al told Ebro. “I definitely learned a lot about myself and how to grow up, chill out and take the longer path instead of being in such a hurry. Working on something of this magnitude, I really haven’t done that throughout my whole career, and I’ve made a lot of records that are great. But nothing of this magnitude. I owe her a lot. I tell her thank you all the time.”
The Alchemist told Ebro in an exclusive Apple Music interview that working on his collab album with Erykah Badu changed his life:
