It appears once again Kendrick Lamar and South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s film has been pushed back. Two years ago, pgLang, Kendrick’s record label and creative agency, announced they had partnered with the Canadian comedians for a film titled Whitney Springs.
However, the film faced a major delay due to complications with Paramount and Skydance’s merger. Now, The Ankler reports the film’s release date has moved to 2027. The report states the film is not shelved, as Paramount already committed over $100 Million to it.
Stone and Parker released a statement to The Ankler to clarify what’s going on.
“We take full responsibility for the schedule delay of this movie,” Stone and Parker said. “We apologize to our partners at pgLang and Paramount, and we appreciate their patience. South Park and life’s circumstances have gotten in the way, but we still believe in the project.”

What Is The Kendrick & Stone/Parker Film About
Reportedly, the plot centers around a young Black reenactor who works at a historical slave plantation museum in the Midwest and eventually has issues with tourists who visit, along with the town’s racist mayor. The film also features unreleased music from Kendrick.
When it comes to music, Kendrick also has a new feature with Jhene Aiko on their new song “So Good.” It’s the second feature the Grammy-winning rapper has dropped, with the first coming off Dahi’s debut album.
