The infamous pharmaceutical businessman Martin Shkreli is selling his copy of Wu-Tang Clan’s one of a kind album “Once Upon A Time In Shaolin…”. “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin…” is a double album Wu-Tang Clan which was limited to a single copy sold in 2015. It is the most expensive musical work ever sold. One double-CD of the album, which was recorded in secret over six years, was pressed in 2014 and stored in a secured vault at the Royal Mansour Hotel in Marrakech, Morocco. The album was auctioned to the highest bidder through auction house Paddle8 in 2015. A legal agreement with the purchaser states it cannot be commercially exploited until 2103, although it can be released for free or played during listening parties.
Shkreli was revealed as the winner of an auction for the Wu-Tang Clan album “Once Upon A Time In Shaolin…” after the single copy of the album was sold via Paddle8 on November 24, 2015, for $2 million to what was reported to be a “private American collector”. On December 9, 2015, Bloomberg Businessweek identified Shkreli as the purchaser.
Now Shkreli is selling the album on ebay with a statement saying “I am not selling to raise cash–my companies and I have record amounts of cash on hand. I hope someone with a bigger heart for music can be found for this one-of-a-kind piece and makes it available for the world to hear.”
Shkreli has received an offer of $1,000,200.00 for the album.
