Cam’ron has been a lightning rod for hot takes, industry stories, and controversy since creating his It Is What It Is show with Mase. But sometimes, the producers on the show catch Cam slipping, forcing himself to explain.
What Did Cam’ron Say About ‘Confessions’
In 1998, off Cam’s studio debut record Confessions Of Fire, he dropped a song called “Confessions,” which contained a pretty controversial lyric.
In the song, he details a dispute with his grandfather, in which, he retaliates by going number one in his orange juice.
Now, over 28 years later, when asked about the lyric, Cam decided to set the record straight.
“I can’t remember where my brain was at, at the time,” Cam’ron said. “I don’t even remember that lyric. I don’t know why I wrote that. I didn’t do that to him. There was a lot of creativity with people I was working with. I kinda had to follow some of their ideas as well.”
Cam doubled down saying “he didn’t do it,” and that he could name anything with writing on his other albums, but not his first.
The lyric in question goes like this. “My grandfather got me mad and I peed inside his orange juice. And asked him if its tangy, when I’m angry.”
What Else Is Going On With Cam?
Killa Cam’s been locked on to the NBA Playoffs, finally making his debut on First Take a few weeks back.
Cam’s first appearance featured some fun bits such as his lack of faith in the Knicks because they named streets after players during the eastern conference finals last year. His obligatory use of “pause,” while on the broadcast. And then his assertion that Lebron James would have more rings than Jordan in household if the Lakers win a title this year, referencing Bronny would win a ring, and how James is married and Jordan is divorced.
Cam made sure to show Stephen A. Smith some love, thanking him on Instagram.
