Freekey Zeekey Says Jim Jones Slapping Roc-A-Fella Exec Caused Jay-Z Rift

Jim Jones, the famed member of the Diplomats rap group, is back in the news. And as per usual it is not for good reason. And music mogul Jay-Z is at the forefront. During the late 2000s, Jim and Hov had a brief rap beef. That stemmed from a dispute that led to The Diplomats parting ways with Roc-a-Fella records.

Freekey Zeekey Says Jim Jones Slap Caused Jay-Z Rift

During a recent interview, famed Diplomats member, Freekey Zeekey, revealed that the entire situation stemmed from Jim Jones slapping Lenny Santiago aka Lenny S. He was an executive at the record label and is a longtime friend of Jay-Z’s, which the label exec took exception to.

“We up in Roc-A-Fella like, ‘Where the f—k this n—-a [Lenny S] at?’ We couldn’t find him. So I got on the elevator and then I got pushed in the elevator by my man Snagz and Jim [Jones], and they pressing the button like, ‘Hurry up, let’s go downstairs!’” Zeekey explained.

“I don’t know what happened, but I’m pretty sure somebody got slapped or something physical happened to Lenny S.”

Freekey Zeekey also went on to explain that they went up to Roc-a-Fella because they had requested studio time on a Sunday. And when Lenny S declined their request, they took it personally.

“What really separated us was when the tensions were high — it was me, Jim, and Snagz. We called Lenny S. saying we needed studio time,” he explained.

“We went up there, I think it was a Sunday, to the studio and we called Lenny S like, ‘What’s going on?’ And he was like, ‘Kiss my ass, it’s Sunday!’”

The beef between Roc-a-Fella and Jay-Z and Dipset was one of the most notable. Cam’Ron tapped Max B for a diss track entitled You Gotta Love It where he accused Jay-Z of several things including stealing Roc-A-Fella from Dame Dash. Years later Jay-Z would remix Jim Jones’ smash hit Ballin’ where he took shots at the Harlem Emcee and his crew.
