Serena Williams & Her Husband Respond to Critics
There were several guests during Kendrick’s Super Bowl halftime performance. But the most notable guest was Serena Williams. Williams has a connection to Lamar as they are both from Compton, California but she is also Drake’s ex. Many criticized Serena’s appearance as it was perceived as her being petty toward her ex. But her husband, Alex Ohanian, was quick to address Williams’ critics.
“Some of y’all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago and it shows…. This is bigger than the music,” Ohanian said.
The tennis legend also chimed in aiming at her critics.
“That there my baby daddy and husband. Always got my back. Love you. Gosh I’m so late to the game (I’ve been sick) & busy investing in billion-dollar companies and running @WYNbeauty … def not dancing to be petty lol,” Williams said.
“I think I proved 23 times over (not counting 4 gold medals) that I simply don’t have time for petty. All love and respect always nothing negative here.”

Drake has yet to officially respond to the Grammy awards or Super Bowl performance in the aftermath of Kendrick’s “Not Like Us,” however he has sent some subtle shots. His most recent shot came on his newest project, $ome $exy $ongs for You, a collab album with Party Next Door that dropped on Valentine’s Day, February 14. On the album’s tenth track entitled “Gimme A Hug,” the rapper appears to address his 2024 back-and-forth with Kendrick. “F**k a rap beef, I’m tryna get the party lit,” he says on the song.
