The hip-hop world is still digesting the shocking verdict in the federal trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Diddy is still awaiting sentencing on the prostitution charges. But he did score a huge legal victory by evading the trafficking and racketeering charges. However, his bail request was denied by Judge Arun Subramanian. So he was ordered to return to jail until his October 3 sentencing date.
Diddy Received Standing Ovation Upon Return to Prison
According to Diddy’s lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, the Bad Boy Records founder received a warm welcome upon his return. As he was welcomed with a standing ovation from his fellow inmates.
“They all said: ‘We never get to see anyone who beats the government,’” Agnifilo told The Associated Press via AllHipHop. “I said: ‘Maybe it’s your fate in life to be the guy who wins. They need to see that someone can win. I think he took that to heart.’”
To bring things up to speed, the music mogul was found not guilty. Of racketeering, trafficking of Cassie, and the trafficking of Jane Doe. However, he was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution related to Cassie and was found guilty of the same charges relating to Jane Doe.
Diddy scored two major acquittals. But still, some of the music mogul’s supporters remain unsatisfied with the verdict. Reality television star Ray J shared in a recent conversation with NewsNation, that he believes Combs should have been acquitted of all of the charges he was facing. Calling the prostitution charges “bogus.”
“They should let Puffy out now,” Ray J said. “I see everybody saying it’s a celebration, but at the same time, how? When he’s not out yet, and then the last two counts are still super bogus.”
Now all eyes switch from the trial to Diddy’s sentencing date on October 3. He faces up to 10 years in prison on the prostitution charges.
