Cardi B dropped her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, this past Friday (September 19). The project is already sitting atop the music charts. Which makes it clear that the Grammy winner has established herself as one of the top emcees in the game.

Cardi B Hits Back at ‘Industry Plant’ Critics

Cardi has amassed a level of success that nobody could have seen coming. So many people admire her come-up in the rap game. But there are others who believe that her success is rooted in her being an industry plant. Who was sent to dethrone fellow New York City emcee Nicki Minaj.

So Cardi hit back at her industry plant critics during a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. She noted that she is trying to make her own imprint as one of the top female emcees. Noting that it is not her intention to dethrone any of the other female rappers that she has had beef with. She never mentions Minaj by name. But she does note that there are just “people” with whom she “doesn’t get along” with in the industry.

“So people have made this whole story that I came into the industry to like take over somebody’s career,” she said. “But it’s like, I never thought that. I just wanted to become famous at what I like to do … Sometimes people just don’t get along with each other.”

Cardi also noted that she feels that she was always “destined” to become who she is today. So nothing or nobody was ever going to get in the way of that.

“This is what I was destined for,” the Bronx femcee added. “I was meant to become this. No matter who signed me, no matter what. I was going to be famous and I was going to be a rapper.”
