Tyrese Gibson and Kevin McCall recently came face-to-face to settle their differences after McCall’s comments about the singer-actor went viral last month.
During an October episode of BaccOnFigg, McCall—best known for co-writing and featuring on Chris Brown’s “Deuces”—called Tyrese a “buster” for allegedly refusing to let him move in during a rough patch. “I was famous but broke, living on my granny’s couch,” McCall said around the 38-minute mark of the episode. He claimed Tyrese had a “big-ass house” but never offered him a place to stay, instead suggesting he reach out to someone else who might help.
McCall dismissed the gesture as “weirdo shit,” a remark that didn’t sit right with Tyrese, who publicly addressed it over the weekend while attending the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
“Tell people the real story,” Tyrese said, directly speaking on the situation. “We real Watts n***as. We don’t play the viral shit.”
The Fast & Furious star explained that while he heard McCall’s comments, he chose not to respond online because the full story was deeper. “I knew everything about your stuff was playing out for the world to see, but I was in the middle of my own sht,” Tyrese said, referring to his 2020 divorce from Samantha Lee. “You think I’m about to move a n**a in when his baby mama’s accusing him of domestic violence and he’s fighting for his daughter? I wasn’t about to let that mess up my home.”
Tyrese clarified that he still tried to help behind the scenes: “I said, ‘Look, whoever you know, call ’em. And if they not f***ing with you, I’ll vouch for you.’ That’s what really happened.”
After the conversation, it seems the two artists were able to clear the air, appearing in good spirits for photographers later that night.
McCall also opened up about past tensions with Chris Brown during the same BaccOnFigg interview, tearfully claiming that Breezy still owes him $25,000 despite their fallout years ago.
While it’s unclear if that situation will see a resolution anytime soon, at least Tyrese and McCall seem to have buried the hatchet—for now.
